Can NRI Apply Under OBC Quota, If Not Apply Under NRI Quota Or DASA / CIWG - Engineering Admissions In NIT
I am indian citizen and working in Singapore. As i am staying with family, my son indian passport holder, studied in Singapore in CBSE International schools, GIIS and completed 12th CBSE exam and got 90%.
He is writing JEE mains 2021 to apply for engineering admission in NIT in India. He is not applying through DASA NRI quota, He is applying directly like other students in India.
If so, kindly please clarify whether he is eligible to apply OBC reservation category instead general category.

No, NRIs students can't avail SC - ST / OBC quota. They must have applied under DASA / CIWG quota, In order to take admission into NITs. Only in IITs NRIs students can avail SC / ST / OBC quota.
