DASA is an acronym of Direct Admission of Students Abroad.
DASA scheme is a reservation one especially launched for undergraduate students of Non-Residential Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). I.e. UG students will fall under DASA scheme when his/her parents have been living abroad for the past 5 years. Instead UG students aren’t eligible.
If you are from a Middle Eastern Country then you might also be eligible for another scheme called CIWG. Countries that fall under CIWG scheme are Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia.
What’s CIWG??
CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf.
Countries that fall under CIWG are Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iran, and Iraq. The applicant that falls into this category must submit their proof of either parent working in a Gulf/Parent Visa/Parents work permit/Certificate from the organization parent has been working for.
The total numbers of admissions under DASA scheme are 2350. I.e. 1/3rd quota of admissions are allotted to Children of Indian Workers in Gulf (CIWGs) & 2/3rd quota admissions are allotted to Non-CIWG scheme (UG students from the rest of the world).
You have to jot down one point here. You acn only apply either in DASA or CIWG scheme. You cannot apply for both the schemes.
