  • Understand one thing that the concept of IB is completely different from Indian education system. IB focusses on critical thinking and writing skills. It focusses on conceptual and fundamental learning. IB believes in holistic approach towards studies which means that you have to do experiments, write reports, work on assignments, take up community service and other internal assessments which results in taking much time of your daily routine.

Whereas the pattern of JEE is totally different from IB as Indian education is more of theory based and IB covers only 75% of the JEE syllabus. Since the IB does not prepares students according to JEE syllabus, hence the chances of getting admission in IITs along with IB becomes weaker. So, it is suggested to take a drop of one year if you are preparing for JEE to get admission into IITs.

  • If you are really interested in taking admission in IITs then must drop for a year to prepare for JEE. The syllabus of IGCSE and IB covers only a portion of JEE syllabus. To prepare for JEE exams, one needs to follow the JEE syllabus completely.

Moreover, JEE doesn’t allow students to use calculators in exams unlike IGCSE which makes IGCSE student dependable on calculators so try to avoid using calculators. IB emphasises on complete understanding of a topic along with its relation to the world.

IT require lots of writing and experiments which doesn’t gives students enough time to prepare for JEE. If you are aiming for JEE then it would be advisable to switch to Indian education board as state board or CBSE and ICSE as the syllabus of JEE is based on CBSE and ICSE Board. s
