The amount and rate at which you can raise your SAT score to depend on how willing you are to change the way you study — and the way you take the test. Here are some general factors that will influence what kind of improvement you can expect to see:

STEP 1. DECIDE ON A TARGET SCORE RANGE

Before taking the SAT exam again, take some time to think about what your SAT score will help you to take admission in your dream college.

Maybe earning a certain score will help you stand out to your dream college or maybe you need to improve by 40-50 points to meet the application requirements for a scholarship (Financial Aid).

Having a clear goal for SAT score will help you know how much you need to improve and, most importantly, stay motivated as you prepare to take the SAT again.

STEP 2. REGISTER FOR THE SAT

Now that you know the score range you’re aiming for, look at the upcoming SAT exam dates and decide when you’d like to take the SAT test again. Choose a certain date that works with your college application timeline and gives you enough time to practice before the test.

We recommend practicing for 6–8 weeks before your SAT exam so you can study a little bit at a time instead of cramming.

STEP 3. SET UP A PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Here’s the good news: You don’t need to pay for a private tutor or an SAT prep class to improve your SAT scores.

Official SAT Practice on Testprepkart is the most official and comprehensive SAT study resource available.

More than 100,000 students who used Official SAT Practice in the 2017–2018 school year improved their SAT scores by 200 points or more, and you can too. It just takes a little bit of organization and hard work.

STEP 4. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

The practice is the most important factor in SAT Effective Strategies. An idle practice of the SAT can help you to get a dream score.

STEP 5. TAKE A FULL-LENGTH SAT PRACTICE TEST

Once you’ve been practicing for a couple of weeks on Official SAT Practice, take a full-length practice test. It’ll probably be easiest to do on a weekend since you’ll need a little over three hours to complete the test.

Full-length practice tests are one of the best ways to prepare for test day and to see how ready you are.

STEP 6. RETAKE THE SAT

If you didn't reach your goal score, register to test again and practice. Once again you can use the Official SAT Practice Khan Academy to create a personalized plan and focus your preparation on areas where you need more work.
