Type of award: Scholarship.
Intended use: For sophomore, junior or senior study at postsecondary institution.
Eligibility:  Applicant must  be residing in  Illinois.  Applicant must be veteran or descendant of veteran; or dependent of veteran  during Grenada conflict, Korean  War, Lebanon
conflict, Panama conflict, Persian Gulf War, WW I, WW II or Vietnam .
Basis for selection: Applicant must demonstrate financial need, high academic achievement, depth of character and leadership.
Application  requirements:  Recommendations, essay,
transcript, proof of eligibility. Copy of most recent federal income tax return.
Additional  information:  Must  be  resident  of  Illinois or member in good standing of the American Legion Family, Department of Illinois. Awards: one $1,200; several $800. Unit sponsorship required. Contact  local Unit for  application.
Nursing  students not eligible.
