What is the admission procedure for NRIs to get admission in engineering colleges like NITs etc. We are looking for good goverment engineering colleges in India and need to know the exact process of getting admission.

I completely lost how things work in India these days. Early back then it was pretty straight forward when i did my engineering from IIT Delhi when i was in India.

Currently im settled in Dubai from the past 15 years and now looking for admission for my son in good engineering colleges. Seeking possitive replies from the community and surely this will help other NRI parents too in making their decision.

Elaborative answer is always appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  • Under the DASA Scheme Admission is offered to FN/PIO/NRI/OCI students.

To get admission in India in NIT, IIIT, or Premium Engineering College NRI students need to full fill the basic criteria for eligibility for the JEE Main First.

The Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main Is:-

    1. He must study grade 11th and 12th from Outside India.

    2. He must have a minimum of 60% marks aggregate in 11th & 12th grade.

    3. Candidates are required to have PCM in class 11th and 12th.

    4. They must have the proof of NRI Candidates.

If the candidate fulfills all the eligibility criteria for JEE Main then he has to participate in JEE Main Entrance Examination for getting admission to NITs.

Candidates need to get a high rank for getting admission in NIT, After the JEE Cut-Off, they need to participate in JoSSA Counselling Process for allotment of seats.

So there are many students who are confused about the JoSSA counselling and DASA Counselling process. Generally asked questions by students are:-

    1. Which site should I prioritize for seat allotment, JoSAA /DASA?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting counselling for the JEE Main. After the announced results by National Testing Agency for the JEE Main, the JoSSA Counselling and seat allotment schedule are released.

    2. Does JoSSA/DASA use a single rank list or do they have separate lists?

The JEE Main Cutoff will be released by National Testing Agency. And that was the final list.

Hope you get all the related information about the admission of NRI Students to NIT.
