Designated institutions: Institutions on U.S. mainland. Eligibility: Applicant must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in Hawaii.
Basis for selection: Applicant must demonstrate financial need, high academic achievement and depth of character.
Application requirements: Essay, transcript. FAFSA and SAR, SAT/ACT scores. Essay (2-3 typed pages, double spaced) must demonstrate commitment to international understanding and world peace.
Additional information: Minimum 2.8 GPA. Must be graduate of Hawaii public high school and attend accredited mainland U.S. college or university. Applicant must have permanent address in Hawaii. Applicants taking up mainland residency must have relatives living in Hawaii. Amount and number of awards vary and may change yearly.
