  • Although IGCSE and ICSE are Education Boards in India, there are differences in curriculum,  and assessment modes. In India, there are only a limited number of educational institutes that come under the IGCSE Board whereas there are numerous schools in our country that follow the ICSE curriculum.

The key difference between ICSE and IGCSE are:
    • IGCSE education which is a two-year programme covering standard 9 and ten was stared in 1988. This is meant for students of 14 – 17 years.
    • ICSE education is a non-governmental Board of School education in India. The Council organises it for the Indian School Certificate Examinations
    • Whereas the ICSE educational system is by Indian standards, the  IGCSE educational system is of international standards.
    • The IGCSE was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations.
    • The ICSE examination is under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
    • The IGCSE is better acceptance than ICSE in foreign universities for undergraduate studies.
    • The IGCSE is more of application-oriented and practical than ICSE
    • IGCSE ( International General Certificate of Secondary Education )and  ICSE  (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) are popular in India.
    • IGCSE educational system is of international standards whereas ICSE educational system is of Indian standards.
    • The IGCSE and ICSE educational systems in India work with the aim of eliminating the illiteracy from our country.
