First - If your son is in India and undergoing 11th grade - This means that he is now not eligible for any NRI scheme like CIWG or DASA. He will be treated as an Indian student only.

Now, for Indian students to get into engineering college is pretty straight forward.

To get into premium institutions like IITs you need to write JEE. In most of the engineering colleges your JEE score is also valid to getting admission if in case you could not get into IITs.

Moreover he can seek admission in NITs, IIITs, IISER, NSIT, DTU and various other colleges.

Now, it largely depends which stream he is looking after. That will help him in selecting the college and thereafter preparing for the relevant entrance examination.
