Alabama G.I. Dependents' Scholarship Program
Type  of  award:  Scholarship, renewable.
Intended use: For undergraduate study at postsecondary institution. Designated institutions: Alabama  public  institutions Eligibility: Applicant must be residing in Alabama. Applicant must be dependent of disabled veteran, deceased veteran or POW/MIA; or spouse of disabled veteran, deceased veteran or POW/MIA. Veteran must have served for at least 90 days continuous active federal duty, be rated with at least a 20% service-connected disability and must have resided in the state of Alabama for at least one year prior to enlistment or be rated with a 100% service connected disability and be a permanent resident of  the State of Alabama  for at least  5 years immediately  prior to application  for program.
Application requirements:  Proof  of eligibility.
Additional information: Children of veterans must submit application before their 26th birthday. In certain situations a child or stepchild may be eligible up to the age of 30. Spouses of veterans have no age limit, but must not be remarried.
Award for five academic years for children and three academic years for spouses (or part-time equivalent); covers tuition, textbooks, and  laboratory  fees. No  application  deadline. There is no restriction on the number of eligible dependents under the veteran. •
