I request your clarification on how 'All India Quota 15%' works from an NRI applicant perspective?

I understand NRIs are eligible for this 15% NEET AIQ Quota. However, out of this 15% AIQ,  there are existing reservations for categories - SC - 15%, ST - 7.5%.
Now 50% Quota allocation for OBC category is in motion per  Madras High Court directive this week. I am not sure if this OBC category/reservation will be approved by MCI/Central Government near soon.

However, My Question is, Does an NRI be restricted to be considered after filling-in all reservation quota( left over from reservation Quota SC/ST/OBC(if approved)?

In other words, an NRI with Scheduled Caste , can the applicant be considered within their SC reservation Quota  allocation in All-India-Quota or NRI OBC within NRI OBC quota in AIQ?

  • 1.  An NRI applicant only can get seats from NRI reservation in AIQ (All India Quota 15%) Seats.

    2. No, You can't get left over seats by SC/ST/OBC reservation quota (There is no OBC / SC / ST quota for NRIs in NEET however candidates can apply in NRI class if they're Eligible.)

There is an NRI quota in some Government and Private Medical Colleges where admission is on the basis of the benefit list in NEET-UG.

    3. An NRI candidate is considered as NRI only, not SC/ST/OBC and others. So NRI candidates can get seats only from NRI Reservation Quota not from other reservation quotas.

    4. Madras High Court didn't approve the 50% Quota allocation for OBC category yet due to COVID -19 pandemic.
