  • Though a lot of content related to SAT test preparation is freely available online, still there is a countless number of books out there that come in handy for test preparation. It becomes absolutely essential to choose the best book for yourself so that the quality of your preparation is not compromised.

Some of the best available books are:
    • The Official College Board Book:
This book helps with realistic test preparation.
    • SAT preparation Black book by Mike and Patrick Barrett:
This book primarily aids in approaching each question with the aim to get the correct answer without any confusion and helps students learn from their mistakes.

  • Undoubtedly the official College Board book is the best book to go by for thorough preparation. However, sometimes additional inputs may be required.

This is when you may choose to go to the following:
    • The Princeton Review
The Princeton Review is a book that provides a real simulated test as close to the original as is possible.
    • Kaplan Book of Practice Tests (for SATs) and Kaplan’s book of Strategies, Practice, and Review
These mostly cover the best and most effective practice books. They have a handbook of 12 practice tests as well.

  • At times, it is not the whole test but certain sections of it that need special focus.

Here is when these books can be used:
    • The Critical Reader-A Complete Guide to SAT Reading
This book gives a step by step approach to SAT reading section and helps to develop skills to arrive at a conclusion logically and to understand question patterns.
    • Dr. Steve Warner’s 28 new SAT math lessons:
This book has math problems sorted by the level of difficulty and it teaches you math content in an organized way and gives you practice problems.
