SAT is a standardized test in the form of an entrance exam used for admissions (in UG Programs) in most of the US colleges and universities & also for few universities in other countries.
The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board.
The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
You can take the SAT in over 175 countries but it is up to the institution to decide whether they want to recognize the scores or not.
