I was curiously waiting for my counseling for NITs and being a DASA student i was much worried about getting the seat too. Meanwhile i was browing the websites and found somewhere mentioned "Internal Sliding" now, i do not understand what this is and how is this useful for Indian or NRI students who are trying to get admission in engineering colleges in India.
In addition, is this even valid for NRI students?

Internal sliding is quite simple - It means when you take admission as per the regular counseling and stream. Later on when any student just in case leave any seat etc. You can be promoted to different college or stream.
In simple words this in Internal Sliding is all about. If there is anything else, please let me know.

Internal Sliding involves a student to take admission in an Engineering Stream not of his/her first priority (as marked during counselling or Seat Allocation). After completing 1st Year in College, i.e. when results of 1st Year are released, he/she can apply for Internal Sliding to shift to a Stream/Branch of his/her choice. Note that It can only be possible with the same college.
